The Tchaikovsky Experience - 1812 Overture
Music
As director, I led the live broadcast of the 1812 Overture for the BBC’s Tchaikovsky Experience, performed by the BBC Concert Orchestra inside the extraordinary setting of London’s Imperial War Museum. Staged across two vast levels, the performance blended classical power with the museum’s dramatic architecture, creating a uniquely atmospheric backdrop for the broadcast.
The orchestra was conducted by Charles Hazlewood, with choral direction by James Davey, featuring voices from Chantage, Watford Philharmonic Choir, Parmiter’s School and Morley College Choir. The result was a sweeping, immersive live experience that brought Tchaikovsky’s work to life in a bold new context.
